Palin: Federal debt will enslave next generation to 'foreign master'

DES MOINES, Iowa, Nov. 10 (UPI) -- The federal debt "will be like slavery" for the next generation because it will be indebted to a "foreign master," Republican pundit Sarah Palin said in Iowa.

At the Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition's fall fundraiser Saturday in Des Moines, Palin said the federal government offers a host of "free" services that must be paid for at some future date to someone, The Des Moines Register reported Sunday.

"Our free stuff today is being paid for by taking money from our children and borrowing from China," Palin told the audience in politically important Iowa. "When that money comes due -- and this isn't racist, but it'll be like slavery when that note is due. We are going to beholden to the foreign master."

She railed against establishment Republicans for abandoning conservative principles, singling out the Affordable Care Act, colloquially known as Obamacare.

"Remember their promise that they would do everything in their power to fight against socialized medicine, against Obamacare?" Palin said. "When it came time to stand and defund it, they waved the white flag of surrender and they threw under the bus the good guys who did stand up and fight."

She also spoke about what she called a censorship of Christian holidays, noting that she had a book on the topic that would be published in a few weeks, the Register reported.

"Enough is enough of this politically correct police out there that is acting to erode our freedom to celebrate and exercise our faith," the ex-Alaska governor and 2008 GOP vice presidential candidate said.
