200 protest unfair wages and benefits outside Los Angeles Walmart

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 8 (UPI) -- Police said they arrested 54 demonstrators outside a Los Angeles Walmart who were protesting what they say are unfair wages and benefits.

More than 200 people took part in the protest against the discount retailer Thursday, KNBC-TV, Los Angeles reported.

The protest was set to close down Cesar Chavez Avenue between Broadway and Figueroa Street from 4:30 p.m. until 6 p.m. But at 6:30 p..m., dozens of protesters were still sitting down on Cesar Chavez and refusing to move, so the street remain closed until police moved in.

Police arrested the 54 demonstrators and the road was reopened at 8 p.m.
