The bodies of Atira Hill, 30, her husband Laterry Smith, 34, and their son Jaidon, 7, were found in a building Tuesday after Burns led investigators to the spot, police said. The family's smoldering, overturned vehicle was found upside down in a nearby ditch Saturday morning, ABC News reported.

All three family members had been shot, WAPT-TV, Jackson, reported. Copiah County Coroner Ellis Stuart confirmed the bodies appeared to have gunshot wounds, but declined to elaborate, pending an autopsy.

The family was last seen driving in their car on Friday, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children said in a statement.
