WASHINGTON, Nov. 5 (UPI) -- U.S. Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., is undergoing evaluation and treatment after a recurrence of prostate cancer, a spokesman said Tuesday.

John Hart, the senator's communications director, said he expects Coburn "to be back as soon as he is able, hopefully next week," The Oklahoman reported.

Coburn, 65, had surgery in October 2011 to treat prostate cancer in its early stages.

He has survived colon cancer and melanoma.
