Sisters give birth to twin quadruplets

LEWIS CENTER, Ohio, Nov. 4 (UPI) -- Two sisters in Ohio say they have given birth to twin quadruplets.

Annie Johnston, 34, of Lewis Center, Ohio, said she and her husband had gone through five years of surgeries, in-vitro fertilization and artificial insemination to have a baby, ABC News reported Monday.

She said she finally turned to her older sister Chrissy Knott, 37, who had offered to carry their baby for them.

A doctor implanted two embryos in each sister Feb. 19. Nine days later, they found out they were both pregnant. They soon learned they were each carrying twins, technically quadruplets.

Four healthy babies were delivered Oct. 24 by scheduled C-sections.

"My sister was carrying the two boys, and she delivered first, so I could be there in the room for her when she had them," Johnston told "Good Morning America." "Two hours later, at 9:30 a.m., I delivered the girls."

Charlie was 6 pounds, Thomas was 6 pounds, 2 ounces, Grace was 5 pounds, 7 ounces, and Hadley was 5 pounds, 4 ounces.

"We're very thankful for what she did for us," Johnston said. "We're very grateful and thankful that they're all here."
