New details in theft case against alleged Colorado kidnapper

AURORA, Colo., Nov. 4 (UPI) -- New details emerged Monday in a previous theft case against a man accused of kidnapping an Aurora, Colo., girl, police said.

John Stanley Snorsky, 26, remains jailed in Arapahoe County, Colo., on $600,000 bond on theft charges. Authorities say they plan to transfer him to Adams County to face kidnapping and burglary charges.

Aurora, Colo., police say Snorsky attempted to kidnap a girl, 8, last Monday by entering her bedroom through a window.

The girl struggled and cried, and escaped, The Denver Post reported Monday.

An affidavit by police investigating the theft case said Snorsky stole $14,000 in cash and more than $50,000 in jewelry, collectible coins and paintings from then-roommate, Linda Taylor, who reported the burglary. Police later learned he had sold many of the items to local pawnshops.

Police arrested Snorsky Tuesday on theft and parole violation charges last week. He remains in custody in the kidnapping investigation, the newspaper said.
