NEW YORK, Oct. 26 (UPI) -- New York City fire officials say they are trying to determine what caused a two-alarm fire at Macy's flagship store in midtown Manhattan.

The fire in the basement of the block-long story was extinguished less than an hour after it began, USA Today reported Friday.

The building was evacuated as a precaution but no injuries were reported, said Elina Kazan, Macy's vice president for media relations, in an e-mail.

Fire officials reported the fire was under control by about 9:30 p.m.
