Lorenzo, with maximum sustained winds of 45 mph, was about 975 miles east of Bermuda, traveling east at 5 mph, the National Hurricane Center in Miami said in its 5 p.m. EDT advisory.
No coastal watches or warnings were in effect.
Lorenzo was expected to shift to the northeast and weaken and could degenerate to a "remnant area" of low pressure by Thursday night, forecasters said.
