HAZELTON, Pa., Oct. 18 (UPI) -- A Texas man was charged with killing a steel company employee in Monroe County, Pa., 45 years ago, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Richard Keiper, 67, of Boyd, Texas, was arrested Thursday at his workplace, and will be extradited to Pennsylvania to face murder, robbery and theft charges in the Oct. 19, 1968, death of Alfred Barnes, 40, police said.

Barnes, who was an assistant to a Bethlehem Steel executive at the time of his death, was found shot to death by hunters, and his missing new car was later found in another county, the Allentown Morning Call reported Friday.

Keiper was 22 at the time, and later moved to Texas, the newspaper said.

Police reviewing the cold case said they noted Keiper was considered a possible suspect at the time but was never interrogated.
