Randy Alana, 56, was arrested Thursday on suspicion of murder at Santa Rita Jail in Dublin, The San Francisco Chronicle reported.
Alana was already serving time for a parole violation. He has been convicted on charges of voluntary manslaughter, rape and other sexual-assault crimes. He was most recently in prison from 1997 to 2012 for a robbery conviction.
Coke disappeared after leaving her home at about 8:30 p.m. Aug. 4. Her body was found five days later, dumped off Interstate 80 in Vacaville.
Authorities said Coke was last seen alive with Alana, her former boyfriend. Alana was later caught on surveillance cameras driving Coke's Mini Cooper the day after she vanished, and putting gas in the car at a gas station in North Oakland.
The car was later found abandoned in West Oakland.
Alana told the newspaper he did not kill Coke and the two had been planning on getting married.
