A police report states Costarakis met multiple times with an undercover detective and offered to pay $5,000 if he would kill her daughter-in-law, Angela Costarakis, WOKV said. Diana Costarakis allegedly paid a down payment on the contract, and provided a photo and information about her daughter-in-law to the undercover officer.

Costarakis allegedly said her daughter-in-law was a drunk and had driven while intoxicated with Costarakis' 6-year-old granddaughter in the car. She also allegedly claimed the daughter-in-law wanted a divorce and planned to move to Denver with her boyfriend and the granddaughter.

The radio station said the undercover detective asked the suspect if she wanted her daughter-in-law killed, and Costarakis replied "If you don't do it, I will."

WTLV-TV, Jacksonville, reported Angela Costarakis said her mother-in-law apparently wanted her out of the way so she could have her son and granddaughter.

:The sad thing is I was shocked, but I wasn't surprised," Angela Costarakis said.
