A last-minute appeal filed Wednesday by Yowell's attorneys was denied by the U.S. Supreme Court, and he was pronounced dead in Huntsville at 7:11 p.m., KCBD-TV, Lubbock, reported.
Yowell, 43, was sentenced to death in 1999 for a drug-fueled attack in which father was shot to death and his mother was strangled. His 89-year-old grandmother was fatally injured when their house exploded after Yowell opened a natural gas line.
Yowell's last words were: "I love you, to Gerald you're a zero. I love you Mandy and Tiffany. I love you too. Whenever you're ready."
