Kansas City girl, 8, killed when hit by ice cream truck

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Oct. 5 (UPI) -- An 8-year-old girl was fatally injured when struck by an ice cream truck on a residential street in Kansas City, police said.

The accident occurred about 5 p.m. CDT Friday, The Kansas City Star reported.

Witnesses told police the girl, whose name had not been released, was running on the sidewalk, chasing the truck, when she ran in front of it, the newspaper said.

The truck driver stayed at the accident scene and cooperated with investigators, the Star said.
