PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 2 (UPI) -- University of Pennsylvania religion Professor Anthea Butler was called a racist by conservatives for Twitter comments about the government shutdown.

Butler, who is black, tweeted the following Tuesday: "Please note that the last govt shut down was with the fake black president Clinton. Now they are have a real black president to mess with."

The conservative group CampusReform.org, which says its mission is to point out racism and liberal bias in academia, compiled Butler's tweets into an article Tuesday, The (Nashville) Tennessean reported.

Butler, a Vanderbilt University graduate, responded: "I see the lovely folks at campus reform have decided to curate my tweets again. Folks, this is just old. We're all angry about shutdown."

"What is so damn funny about this racist stuff is I will see my white Goddaughter and her kids this weekend, haha. But yo, I hate white folks," she continued.
