Anti-Tea Party posters taped to Rep. Williams' office door

AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 2 (UPI) -- Rep. Roger Williams, R-Texas, called anti-Tea Party posters taped to the door of his congressional district office in Austin an anti-Republican hate crime.

"It's time for your recall" and "You represent us, not your party," were among the more polite comments on the posters, KXAN-TV, Austin, reported, noting the protests were discovered when Williams' staff arrived for work Wednesday morning.

A statement released by the office referred to the incident as an "anti-Republican hate crime." Speaking on the House floor of the incident, Williams said Wednesday, "I understand that this government shutdown has caused uncertainty and tension for hundreds of thousands of Americans, but this type of behavior cannot and will not be tolerated," the Washington newspaper The Hill reported.
