NEW YORK, Oct. 1 (UPI) -- A motorcyclist whose collision with a Range Rover resulted in the driver being pulled from the vehicle and beaten has been arrested, New York police say.

Christopher Cruz, 28, of Passaic, N.J., has been charged with reckless driving, reckless endangerment, and menacing and endangering the welfare of a child, The New York Times reported Tuesday.

A video taken by another motorcyclist shows Cruz slowing in front of the sports utility vehicle just before he is struck by Alexian Lien, 33, the driver of the SUV, police say.

Cruz received only minor injuries but other motorcyclists stopped in front of the vehicle, in which Lien's wife and 2-year-old daughter were passengers.

Lien accelerated, crashing into at least one other motorcyclist.

The motorcyclists pursued the SUV and pulled Lien from the vehicle and beat him when he was caught in traffic, police said.

Detectives are searching for the suspects who beat the driver, police said.
