Zimmerman's mother-in-law says he stole from her

Sept. 28, 2013 at 4:59 PM   |   Comments

LAKE MARY, Fla., Sept. 28 (UPI) -- George Zimmerman's mother-in-law said the man acquitted of killing Trayvon Martin stole furniture and a TV from the Florida home he was renting from her.

Machelle Dean, the mother of Zimmerman's estranged wife Shellie, called police in Lake Mary, Fla., to report the missing items from a home she owns where Zimmerman was staying. He was supposed to have vacated the home Thursday, WFTV-Orlando, Fla., reported

No charges have been filed, the report said.

Police said they are waiting for Zimmerman's mother-in-law to produce a rental agreement and proof of ownership. It wasn't immediately clear whether the case would be criminal or civil in nature.

Zimmerman was acquitted this year of second-degree murder in the highly publicized trial. He said he shot and killed Martin, an unarmed black teenager, in self-defense.
