Car linked to shooting, missing college student recovered by police

BURNSVILLE, Minn., Sept. 26 (UPI) -- Police in Burnsville, Minn., have recovered a vehicle that has been linked to the suspect in a fatal bar shooting and a missing college student.

In the bar shooting, police arrested Shavelle Oscar Chavez-Nelson, 31, on Tuesday on suspicion of fatally shooting 23-year-old Palagor Obang Jobi outside Nina's Grill early Sunday, the St. Paul (Minn.) Pioneer Press reported.

The shooting happened after Chavez-Nelson and Jobi got into an argument, police said. No official charges have been filed in that case.

A woman, Ashley Marie Conrade, 24, also was arrested in the shooting case.

Chavez-Nelson is also a suspect in the disappearance of University of Minnesota student Anarae Kristine Schunk, 20, said Sgt. Rory Bochniak, a police spokesman.

Schunk and Chavez-Nelson dated for some time before breaking up last fall, her older brother, Owen Schunk, told the Pioneer Press. They had recently gotten back into contact and she had lent him some money, the brother said.

Schunk was last seen on video surveillance at Nina's Grill with Chavez-Nelson before the shooting, police said.

Police have no information on what happened to Schunk after the shooting and that Chavez-Nelson "hasn't said anything," Bochniak said.

In a statement Thursday, police said Chavez-Nelson's dark-colored 1983 Buick LeSabre has been accounted for," but did not give any other details.

Police said that a private citizen has offered a $5,000 reward for information that leads to Schunk.
