HAMPTON, N.H., Sept. 25 (UPI) -- A young New Hampshire woman faces serious charges in a weekend car crash that claimed the lives of two bicyclists and left two others injured, authorities say.

Darriean Hess, 19, of Seabrook was charged with two counts of negligent homicide and two counts of second-degree assault Tuesday, WBZ-TV, Boston, reported. Hess was jailed in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Authorities say Hess was behind the wheel of a car that crossed into the oncoming lane and struck the four bicyclists Saturday morning.

Elise Bouchard, 52, of Danvers, Mass., and Pamela Wells, 60, of South Hamilton, Mass., were killed. The other two cyclists were hospitalized.

Hampton police said Monday they had pulled Hess over about 7 1/2 hours prior to the crash for speeding. The TV station said the New Hampshire Department of Motor Vehicles said she did not have a valid license.
