Nevada teen wanted in slayings of mother, brother arrested in Vegas

LAS VEGAS, Sept. 25 (UPI) -- A Nevada teenager accused of stabbing his mother and brother to death was arrested in Las Vegas Wednesday, police said.

Henderson police said Adrian Navarro-Canales, 16, of Henderson was taken into custody about 10:30 a.m. local time at an open-air food court on the Vegas Strip, the Las Vegas Sun reported. Police had gotten a tip Tuesday night the teen might be in the vicinity, the newspaper said.

Navarro-Canales is charged with murder in the slayings of his mother, Elvira Canales-Gomez, 40, and his Cesar Navarro, 9, whose bodies were found in their apartment Friday by police officers conducting a welfare check.
