Kansas professor on leave for Twitter remark sent after shootings

Sept. 20, 2013 at 3:47 PM

LAWRENCE, Kan., Sept. 20 (UPI) -- A University of Kansas journalism professor was placed on administrative leave after advising violence against children of National Rifle Association members.

Bernadette Gray-Little, school chancellor, called the remarks of Professor David Guth "repugnant," and Friday advised he be put on leave "pending review of the entire situation."

Using his Twitter account Monday and writing in response to the Washington Navy Yard shootings, Guth said "blood is on the hands" of the National Rifle Association, adding, "Next time, let it be your sons and daughter. Shame on you. May God damn you."

For comment, Guth referred the Kansas City Star to his personal blog, where Guth wrote Monday, "I am angry, frustrated, sad and determined. The news of the senseless slaughter...has me again questioning how long we can let this madness continue."
