Mark O'Mara no longer represents George Zimmerman

SANFORD, Fla., Sept. 11 (UPI) -- The lawyer who successfully defended Floridian George Zimmerman against a second-degree murder charge this year, said Zimmerman is no longer his client.

On Monday, Zimmerman was briefly held following a dispute involving his estranged wife, Shellie, and her father, David Bryant Dean.

"I am not representing George Zimmerman in his recent domestic altercation case or his impending divorce case," attorney Mark O'Mara told CNN in an interview published Tuesday.

Since he was acquitted in the death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin in July, Zimmerman has also been pulled over for two traffic violations. In Texas, he was given a warning while in Florida he was issued a $256 ticket for speeding.

Zimmerman was acquitted in the 2012 shooting death of unarmed teenager Martin in Sanford, Fla., in which Zimmerman pleaded self-defense.

O'Mara, now a legal analyst for CNN, remains the attorney of record in a defamation lawsuit against NBC. He will be involved in pending sanction motions and efforts to recover legal costs from Florida for expenses related to Zimmerman's murder trial.
