Anthony Rozelle Banks, 61, was pronounced dead at 6:07 p.m. CDT following an injection of lethal drugs at the state penitentiary in McAlester, WRMG-AM, Tulsa, reported.
Banks was sentenced to death after being convicted of first-degree murder in the 1979 shooting death of Sun "Kim" Travis, a 24-year-old Korean national. Authorities said Banks abducted Travis from a parking lot outside her apartment complex and raped her before killing her.
The crime wasn't pinned on Banks until DNA evidence tied him to it in 1997. He was serving a life sentence for the shooting death of a store clerk at the time.
Oklahoma has executed four death row inmates this year.
