Authorities said Kowalczyk was shot while responding to Schneider's reported violation of a court-ordered injunction in Westboro, Sunday.

Bystanders provided Kowalczyk first aid while paramedics rushed to the scene, WAOW-TV, Wausau, reported.

The Taylor County Sheriff's Department hadn't said what charges would be filed against Schneider and provided no further information about their investigation.
