Julia Rivera, 47, of Hartford, was arrested after she called police shortly after midnight to say she had killed her boyfriend in the attack, the Hartford Courant reported.
"Arrest me, I did it. I burned him alive," she allegedly told the officers who responded.
Police said they found the alleged victim in a building near the apartment where they found Rivera.
The man was taken to the burn unit in Bridgeport Hospital where he was reported in critical condition. Police said he had second-degree burns over 70 percent of his body.
Rivera was the subject of a restraining order at the time of the attack, police said.
