Bill Clinton: Improve Obamacare, don't repeal it

LITTLE ROCK, Ark., Sept. 4 (UPI) -- Former President Bill Clinton said Wednesday Republicans should work to improve the new U.S. healthcare law instead of trying to repeal it.

Clinton spoke to an invited audience of 300 at his presidential library in Little Rock, Ark., Politico reported.

"I think we should all work together to implement this law, whether we supported its passage or not," Clinton said. "I have agreed to give this talk today because I am still amazed at how much misunderstanding there is about the current system of health care, how it works, how it compares with what other people in other countries pay for health care and what kind of results they get and what changes are actually occurring now and are going to occur in the future."

Clinton, who tried and failed to get healthcare reform through Congress when he was president, was dubbed the "Secretary of Explaining Stuff" by President Barack Obama after the 2012 Democratic National Convention. He acknowledged Wednesday the law drafted by Obama's staff has problems but said that is inevitable in trying to improve a system as complex as healthcare and health insurance, USA Today reported.
