Illinois Craigslist serial rape suspect named in sixth case

WOODSTOCK, Ill., Aug. 28 (UPI) -- An Illinois man suspected of using Craigslist to find women to rape has been charged in a sixth sexual assault, authorities say.

Charles Oliver of Woodstock was charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault Tuesday in McHenry County, the Chicago Tribune reported. Oliver was being held in the McHenry County jail in lieu of $500,000 set for the latest charge.

Police said in the latest case the victim came forward with details that were "strikingly similar" to those in the five previous cases brought against Oliver, the newspaper said.

"Some of the details weren't released to the public and still haven't been," Woodstock Detective Sgt. Jeff Parsons said.

The woman told authorities she met Oliver through an online ad offering sex for money and alleges Oliver assaulted her in November 2012. Oliver allegedly attacked six women, some of them prostitutes, in a 14-month period starting in November 2011, court records show.

The attacks are alleged to have taken place in Oliver's home. Authorities allege he threatened the women to discourage them from going to police.

Police have said previously there could be as many as 25 victims.
