DETROIT, Aug. 28 (UPI) -- A Detroit man pleaded guilty to disinterring his father's body with the hope of resurrecting the 93-year-old man.

Vincent Bright, 48, is scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 24 for the felony, which is punishable by up to 10 years in prison, the Detroit Free Press reported Tuesday.

Police said Bright visited Gethsemane Cemetery in January and took the body of his father, Clarence Street, from inside a casket in a mausoleum, with plans to resurrect it.

The empty casket was found inside a van parked at a gas station and Street's body was discovered a mile away at Bright's home in a barricaded basement freezer.
