NEW YORK, Aug. 28 (UPI) -- An apparent road rage killing in The Bronx early Wednesday was actually the rage of a car service driver at his former girlfriend, New York police said.

Investigators said Espinal spotted German in a car with another man at about 4:30 a.m. at at the Pelham Parkway entrance to the New England Thruway at about 4:30 a.m. He allegedly sideswiped the car, causing it to flip over and then stabbed German repeatedly.

The other man remained trapped in the driver's seat.

Espinal made no effort to escape and was arrested when police arrived.

Maria Martinez, a secretary at Kiss Car Service, said she was "totally shocked" by the arrest, the Post reported. She said Espinal did not appear to be the kind of person to commit that kind of violence but that he had had problems in the past and had lost his license to drive a yellow cab because of a domestic violence incident.

"My boss said to him, 'Take it easy. if you can't live with her then move away, just move on.' What can I say, human beings are strange," Martinez said.
