Three robbers took money from the registers at a Denny's restaurant along Interstate 10 as well as about 15 people in the restaurant they forced to lie on the floor, KTRK-TV reported Tuesday.
The suspects fired multiple gunshots during the robbery that happened about 10:40 p.m. Monday, police said. One employee was shot as he attempted to flee the restaurant. He managed to run to another restaurant across the highway.
He was hospitalized with multiple gunshots to the lower body and was expected to survive.
A customer also was shot and died later at a hospital.
