Savannah State U. officer's gun discharges, bullet lodges in wall

SAVANNAH, Ga., Aug. 21 (UPI) -- A bullet accidentally discharged by a Savannah, Ga., State University official Wednesday penetrated two windows before it lodged in a wall, the school said.

No injuries were reported.

The unidentified public safety official's firearm was fired during a training exercise or demonstration during a class in session, university spokeswoman Loretta Heyward said.

The bullet penetrated a window in the C wing of the Hubert Tech Science Building, where the school's Department of Public Safety is located, then through a window in an A wing classroom, where it struck a wall, the Savannah, Ga., Morning News reported.

Heyward added the officer will face administrative suspension.
