COLUMBUS, Ohio, Aug. 19 (UPI) -- A 25-year-old man was hospitalized in unknown condition Sunday after being pulled unconscious from a lake on Ohio State University's campus, authorities said.

Campus police and student safety officers rescued the man from Mirror Lake in Columbus shortly after 5 p.m. local time. The victim, whose name had not been released, was in cardiac arrest and his rescuers restored his pulse by performing CPR, the Columbus Dispatch reported.

Bystanders told the newspaper the man, who campus officials said was not currently enrolled at OSU, appeared to have been drowning.
