LARGO, Fla., Aug. 15 (UPI) -- A Florida woman was found dead in her home about three years after she died, officials said.
Neighbors thought Geneva Chambers moved out of her Largo home without telling anyone about three years ago, WFTS-TV, Tampa, Fla., reported Wednesday.
"We'd never seen her coming and going. We pretty much thought that, everybody I think, thought she just up in the middle of the night took off," said neighbor David Oehler.
However, when the bank hired a lawn service to take over, it was discovered that Chambers never moved out.
"You would think that someone would have noticed -- the mail guy, the trash service, I mean someone," said neighbor Lina Atkins.
Investigators said Chambers died inside the home as many as three years ago, maybe longer, probably of natural causes.
The cause of death has not yet been determined. Investigators have been in touch with Chambers' estranged family in Miami.
