Great-grandmother says Filner accosted her

SAN DIEGO, Aug. 15 (UPI) -- A San Diego City Hall volunteer and great-grandmother said Thursday Mayor Bob Filner grabbed her and kissed her in the latest allegation of sexual harassment.

Peggy Shannon, accompanied by attorney Gloria Allred, said she was flattered at first when Filner paid attention to her but later found his actions "disturbing," U-T San Diego reported.

"It became very stressful for me but I was not going to stay away from my job," Shannon told a news conference. "Every day when I went to work, I had butterflies in my stomach."

Shannon, who has three sons, four grandsons and two great-grandsons, said she went home and cried the day Filner kissed her.

Filner has been under fire for allegedly sexually harassing more than a dozen women. Allegations began surfacing more than a month ago and though Filner has been going for treatment, he has said he wouldn't resign.
