Two die in small plane crash in Northern California

CHICO, Calif., Aug. 14 (UPI) -- Two people were killed when a small plane crashed and triggered a brush fire in Northern California, local authorities said.

The single-engine plane went down five miles east of Chico in a remote canyon area of Butte County, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection said the fire triggered by the crash spread to 21 acres before it was contained.

Two bodies found inside the burned aircraft have not been identified.
