WASHINGTON, Aug. 9 (UPI) -- U.S. President Obama refused to say Friday whether he would nominate Larry Summers to be the next chairman of the Federal Reserve.

Obama told reporters he is looking at "a range of outstanding candidates," including the former U.S. Treasury Secretary Summers and Janet Yellen, vice chairwoman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System.
