Log: Zimmerman sought to buy bulletproof vest, security system

ORLANDO, Fla., Aug. 9 (UPI) -- George Zimmerman sought to buy a bulletproof vest and a home security system while out on bond for the killing of Trayvon Martin, a Florida police log reveals.

The information is contained in a 57-page log kept by the Seminole County Sheriff's Office of Zimmerman's activities while he wore an ankle monitor equipped with a Global Positioning System, USA Today reported Thursday.

Zimmerman was required by the court to wear the monitor as part of his release on $1 million bond.

The log, maintained from July 6, 2012, to July 13 of this year, shows that on July 14, 2012, Zimmerman called to say he and his wife were getting new cellphones because the media had learned his wife's telephone number.

On Aug. 8, 2012, the log indicates a police supply store reported Zimmerman wanted to buy a bulletproof vest and an infrared security device. Zimmerman confirmed to police he wanted to buy the items.

The log does not indicate if Zimmerman purchased the vest and security system.

Zimmerman was acquitted last month in the shooting of Martin.
