MIAMI, Aug. 6 (UPI) -- Hurricane Henriette was strengthening well east of the Hawaiian Islands Tuesday, posing no hazard to the island chain, forecasters said.

Henriette, with maximum sustained winds of 90 mph, was about 1,545 miles east of Hilo, Hawaii, moving northwest at 10 mph, the National Hurricane Center in Miami said in its 2 p.m. PDT advisory.

No coastal watches or warnings were in effect.

Henriette was forecast to shift to the west-northwest Wednesday, when gradual weakening was expected to begin.
