TRENTON, N.J., Aug. 3 (UPI) -- A New York City tractor-trailer rig driver faces charges in a vehicular accident that left a New Jersey mother and two sons dead, authorities said Saturday.

Richard Williams, 45, allegedly made an illegal U-turn on Route 1 in New Jersey's Lawrence Township Friday night and a sport utility vehicle driven by Shaqwan Tisdale, 25, slammed into it, The Times of Trenton, N.J., reported.

The Mercer County Prosecutor's Office said in a release Williams was charged with three counts of death by auto and was being held in the county jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.

Jamella Tisdale, 25, and her sons, Jaevon Durante, 9, and Jaden Tisdale, an infant, were killed. Shaqwan Tisdale and another passenger, Mellady Durante, 8, were hospitalized in stable condition, the newspaper said.

The family was from Levittown, Pa., authorities said.
