CASTAIC, Calif., Aug. 2 (UPI) -- Police said they gave CPR to an 8-year-old boy who was found unconscious in a washing machine filled with water at his Castaic, Calif., home.

The boy's father pulled him from the machine Wednesday night, the Los Angles Time reported.

The father called 911 and police began giving CPR until a fire department crew arrived.

The child was taken to a hospital and listed in stable condition Thursday, the Times said.

Authorities said the father had been working in the yard before finding the boy and the mother was at a store.
