Trayvon's mom says juror's statement 'challenges our nation' to change

MIAMI, July 26 (UPI) -- A statement by a juror that she felt George Zimmerman was guilty "challenges our nation" to prevent future incidents, says Trayvon Martin's mother.

Sybrina Fulton said the news a juror in Zimmerman's trial, identified only as B29, wanted to find him guilty of killing her son was "devastating," ABC News reported Friday.

"It is devastating for my family to hear the comments from juror B29, comments which we already knew in our hearts to be true," Fulton said in a statement Thursday.

"This new information challenges our nation once again to do everything we can to make sure that this never happens to another child," she said.

Fulton said she and her ex-husband, Tracy Martin, had established a foundation in Trayvon's name "to try and take something very painful and negative and turn it into something positive as a legacy to our son."

Interviewed Thursday on "Good Morning America," the juror said she felt "like I let [Trayvon's parents] down."

"I feel I was forcefully included in Trayvon Martin's death," said the juror, the only African-American woman on the panel.

Zimmerman "got away with murder, but you can't get away from God," she added.
