CYPRESS, Calif., July 23 (UPI) -- The mother of a 2-year-old girl attacked by a coyote in a Cypress, Calif., cemetery said her daughter is in good spirits and is walking on her wounded leg.

A coyote attacked the child Thursday afternoon in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Cypress, where the mother, Michelle Luper, was visiting her grandmother's grave with her family, The Orange County Register reported.

The girl, standing about 10 feet away from her mother, was bitten twice by the coyote, the Los Angeles Times said Tuesday.

Mark Michilizzi, a California Fish and Wildlife Department warden, said the girl was treated for rabies and given antibiotics after the attack.

Three coyotes were killed in the area Thursday by department officials.
