CHICAGO, July 19 (UPI) -- An American Airlines flight headed to Chicago was forced to land in Ireland Friday morning because of mechanical issues, a spokesperson for the airline said.

Flight 55 from Manchester, England, was diverted to Shannon Airport, WGN-TV in Chicago reported.

The Boeing 767 was carrying 199 passengers and a crew. No one was reported injured.

The plane was due to leave Shannon after it was checked by a maintenance team.
