A coroner determined the injuries responsible for the death of Ye Meng Yuan, 16, were caused by a vehicle, sources told the San Francisco Chronicle. Her body, covered in foam used to fight the fire, was discovered almost an hour after the crash on a path near the left wing of the plane.
Wang Lin Jia, Ye's friend, was found near the back of the plane. Liu Yi Peng, 15, the third fatality, was still in her seat and died six days later in a hospital.
Investigators are unsure if Ye left the plane on her feet or was thrown from it, the Chronicle reported. But the coroner determined any injuries she suffered during the crash were not severe enough to kill her.
Eugene Rah, a passenger, took photos that show the area where Ye's body was found immediately after the crash. Her body is not visible, and she is not in the photos.
