Natural gas well explodes in West Virginia, eight people injured

NEW MILTON, W.Va., July 8 (UPI) -- A natural gas well exploded in north-central West Virginia, injuring eight people, officials said.

Investigators said they don't know the cause of the explosion and fire Sunday afternoon in New Milton in rural Doddridge County, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported.

Some victims were flown to West Penn Hospital's burn unit in Pittsburgh and the others were treated locally.

The well is owned by Antero Resources, based in Denver.
