RENO, Nev., July 2 (UPI) -- The Red Rock fire, north of Reno, Nev., was 35 percent contained with full containment expected in several days, fire officials announced Tuesday.

The size of the fire was revised downward from 7,200 acres to 5,400 acres, the Sierra Front Wildlife Cooperators said.

The fire was not threatening structures and remained within the containment area, Sierra Front public information spokeswoman Elayn Briggs said.

Another fire burning nearby, north of Hallelujah Junction, Calif., had grown to about 7,000 acres but was still about a mile away from homes, the Reno (Nev.) Gazette-Journal reported.

The Pedlar fire, which started Sunday near Silver City, Nev., and burned 96 acres, was declared 100 percent contained, the newspaper said.
