After settling with a Christian group who didn't want the Ten Commandments removed from Bradford County Courthouse, in Starke, Fla., American Atheists won the right to erect their own monument to atheism.

The 1,500-pound granite bench, which features quotations from Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin and the group's founder, Madalyn Murray O’Hair, was unveiled in a ceremony on Saturday.

"American Atheists will work ... to ensure truth is placed next to the lies, civility next to barbarism," American Atheists President David Silverman told the Florida Times-Union.
