The poll, conducted by J.D. Power and Associates, found while the majority of cruise passengers had a positive experience, 18 percent of them experienced problems and were left unsatisfied, CNN reported Saturday.
"When you're on ship for a long time, there are bound to be problems," said Ramez Faza, senior account manager of the global travel and hospitality practice at J.D Power. "I think the biggest thing as a company is the ability to recover."
Poll respondents rated Disney Cruise Line first, Royal Caribbean International second and Holland America Line third, J.D. Power said.
Carnival ranked last in the report of eight cruise lines.
"It is important for cruise line companies to understand their strengths and weaknesses in the service they provide to their passengers," Faza said. "Cruises in general are not something you get on to go from point A to point B. It's more for the experience."
