Tsarnaev, 19, was accused of setting off two bombs near the finish line of the marathon April 15 with the help of his brother Tamerlan, who was killed in an exchange of gunfire with police. The brothers were from the Caucasus region in Russia.

Three people died in the blasts. Investigators said they believe the brothers killed a university police officer in the days after the attack as they tried to evade capture.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was captured after a massive manhunt in the Boston area after Tamerlan Tsarnaev was killed in a shootout with police.
