Four bodies found in Arizona desert likely immigrants

PHOENIX, June 21 (UPI) -- Four bodies found in the Arizona desert Thursday likely were immigrants who died of exposure, a U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesman said.

"It is probable that they are immigrants attempting to cross into the U.S.," CNN quoted Victor Brabble as saying. "However, we don't have enough to draw a conclusion on it now."

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office said the bodies, found 70 miles north of the U.S.-Mexico border near Gila Bend, Ariz., have not yet been identified.

More than 2,230 migrants have died in the desert area in the past 22 years, the Binational Migration Institute at the University of Arizona said.
